Hammer Museum's Made in L.A. Biennial Announces 26 Artists with Minimalist Poetic Title
The Hammer Museum has announced the lineup for the third Made in L.A. biennial, curated by Aram Moshayedi and Hamza Walker. This exhibition features 26 artists from the Los Angeles area, including well-known names like Kelly Akashi, Huguette Caland, Rafa Esparza, Arthur Jafa, Sterling Ruby, and Martine Syms. The subtitle, 'a, the, though, only,' comes from minimalist poet Aram Saroyan. Moshayedi works as a curator at the Hammer, while Walker is the education director and associate curator at the Renaissance Society in Chicago. The curators noted they weren’t aiming to highlight a specific local style. Other participating artists include Eckhaus Latta, Todd Gray, and Gala Porras-Kim, showcasing diverse artistic practices.
