Hamburger Kunsthalle unveils 2,500-year sculpture survey

The Hamburger Kunsthalle has opened 'SCULPTURAL: The New Galleries,' its first comprehensive exhibition spanning the entire sculpture collection. Featuring nearly 1,000 works—including sculptures, reliefs, paintings, graphic art, photos, and installations—the show covers 2,500 years of visual history from antiquity to the present. Highlights include the museum's newly rediscovered trove of coins, medals, and sculptural reliefs in gold, silver, and bronze, which are being examined, identified, restored, and digitized as part of a dedicated research project. The exhibition also incorporates key loans and presents surprising comparisons across media and scales.
