Hal Marcus Art Museum to Open in El Paso in 2027-2028, Celebrating Local Artist's Legacy
The residence of artist Hal Marcus in El Paso is set to transform into the Hal Marcus Art Museum between late 2027 and early 2028, featuring his collection of local artists. Born in El Paso in 1951, Marcus played a significant role in the art community, recognized for his colorful folk-style artwork. He established the Hal Marcus Gallery in April 1996, which will commemorate its 30th anniversary in April 2026. In July 2025, his mural 'El Paso Gracias a Dios' was taken down from the Chamizal National Memorial and moved to Casa Ford, with a reveal scheduled for April 26, 2026. After being diagnosed with cancer, Marcus dedicated himself to art until his passing on April 12, 2026.
