Hailey Sadler: Documenting Displacement and Home Through Photography

Hailey Sadler, a documentary photographer and National Geographic Explorer located in Washington, DC, delves into themes of home, identity, and memory in the context of trauma and displacement. Her notable works include "Missing Home," which highlights Ukrainian families in Georgia; "We Exist in Memory," focusing on the Venezuelan Warao refugees and Indigenous displacement in Brazil; and "We Hold One Another Together," which examines the pandemic's effects on the Navajo Nation. Sadler, who previously worked as a congressional staff member, earned a Master's in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins. Her photography has been featured in prominent publications and shown at the UN. Together with Darian Woehr, she co-founded The Home Collective. Her next project, "When I Dream of Home," will investigate the dreams of five refugee communities.
