Haggerty Museum of Art Announces Fall Exhibitions and Programs

This fall, Marquette University's Haggerty Museum of Art will unveil three exhibitions along with a variety of complimentary programs under the theme The Otherworld is Home. Inspired by the Yoruba saying “Life is a journey, the otherworld is home” (Ayé l’ájò, ọ̀run n’ilé), the exhibitions will showcase art ranging from the fifteenth century in Mali to modern-day creations. Activities will include gallery discussions and Community Day events that delve into topics such as shared human experiences, cultural identity, personal reclamation, spiritual journeys, and connections within Africa’s diasporas. The opening date is set for August 28, 2026, and entry is free. One of the exhibitions, African Art: Ancient Roots, Enduring Values, will display over 40 classical and neoclassical pieces emphasizing traditional craftsmanship.
