Hadestown ProShot Film Gets Extended Run After $9.7M Opening
Bleecker Street's 'Hadestown: The Musical' achieved an impressive $9.7 million in its opening weekend across 1,949 screens, making it the second-largest debut for a live show capture, following 'Hamilton.' In response to high demand, distributor Crosswalk and its partner LD Entertainment are prolonging the initial five-day engagement with more dates and showtimes. The film boasts a remarkable 99% audience score and has received a Certified Fresh rating. Written by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, the stage show won eight Tony Awards in 2019, including Best Musical, and earned the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in 2020. Directed by Brett Sullivan, the film captures the original principal cast from the West End production. Crosswalk previously found success with 'Stray Kids: The Dominate Experience' and is set to release 'George Michael: The Faith Tour' later this year.
