Gustave Caillebotte: A Different Impressionist Vision

Gustave Caillebotte (1848–1894), frequently regarded as a lesser-known Impressionist, made notable contributions that were featured in DailyArt Magazine. A lawyer and veteran of the Franco-Prussian War, he played a crucial role in supporting the Impressionist movement through his patronage and collection. His self-portrait from 1880 depicts him alongside Renoir's 'Dance at the Moulin de la Galette.' At just 28, he bequeathed his collection to the French government and was instrumental in organizing the 1877 Impressionist exhibition.
