Gustav Klimt's Nuda Veritas Makes Final Journey to Villa Manin
Gustav Klimt's iconic painting Nuda Veritas is the sole focus of a new exhibition at Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo, Italy, titled 'Un capolavoro a Villa Manin. Nuda Veritas. Klimt.' The show, curated by Cäcilia Bischoff and organized by ERPAC FVG and MondoMostre in collaboration with the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Theatermuseum of Vienna, marks the last time the work will travel before returning permanently to the Theatermuseum after its renovation. The 1899 oil on canvas, measuring 252 by 56 centimeters, depicts a nude woman holding a mirror, with a serpent at her feet and a quote from Schiller. The exhibition contextualizes Klimt's career as a founder of the Vienna Secession and his travels in Italy. Four installations in an adjacent room reinterpret the painting's themes with real mirrors and varied quotations. The show runs until September 6.
