Günther Domenig Retrospective Opens Across Four Venues in Carinthia

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Ten years after his passing, Austrian architect Günther Domenig (1934–2012) is celebrated with the exhibition "Dimensional: Structures and Forms," which spans four locations in Carinthia throughout 2022. This marks the first extensive overview of his work. The participating venues are the MMKK Museum of Modern Art Carinthia, AHK Architektur Haus Kärnten, his Steinhaus on Lake Ossiach, and repurposed blast furnaces in Heft/Hüttenberg. A key member of the "Graz School," Domenig was educated at Technische Universität Graz and became a professor in 1980. His significant projects include the Oberwart church (1969), the Olympic swimming pool in Munich (1972), and the Steinhaus (1986-2008), along with later works like the Documentation Center in Nuremberg (1998) and T-Center offices in Vienna (2004). The exhibition will also host performances by Tanzquartier Wien and a forum on September 23–24.
