Gulistan's 'Time Garden' at Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome
Chinese artist Gulistan presents 'Time Garden' at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GNAMC) in Rome, curated by Gabriele Simongini. The exhibition, supported by the Fondazione per l'arte cinese in Italia and the Federazione Internazionale delle Artiste Femminili 923 Art Space, explores a fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics through painting. Gulistan, who trained between Beijing and Australia, has exhibited internationally at venues including the China Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, Today Art Museum, Guangdong Provincial Museum, Poly Art Museum in Beijing, National Normal University of Taiwan, Sejong Hall in Seoul, and Ramsay Museum in Düsseldorf, as well as in Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Germany, and Dubai. In 2020, she received the Contemporary Art Creation Award from the International Federation of Women Artists in Rome. The exhibition features series such as 'Fragments of Time,' combining Morandi's earthy tones with Dunhuang's ochre red and Eastern calligraphic lines; 'The Nature of Memory,' reflecting on archaeological ruins with Eastern figurations; and 'Memory of the Portraits,' contrasting Chinese ink techniques with Western portraiture. Gulistan's cyclical concept of time, rooted in memory and being, is central to her work. The show runs from March 7 to April 8, 2026.
