Gülbin Ünlü’s Berlin Debut at Galerie Barbara Thumm

Munich-based artist Gülbin Ünlü, currently a fellow at Villa Romana in Florence, will make her highly anticipated Berlin debut at Galerie Barbara Thumm. The exhibition coincides with Uranus’s transit into Gemini, marking the end of an eight-year cycle. Ünlü, of Turkish roots, presents a curated conversation between her institutional exhibition history and recent experimental work. Her title proposes a cognitive space for self-recognition, playing on the Turkish meaning of her surname: “celebrity, famous, well-known.” Her practice is defined by a signature “mash-up” philosophy, blending painting, drawing, photography, and sound.
