Guillaume Leblon's Fragile Constructions at Mudam and Kunsthalle Bern

Guillaume Leblon's work, characterized by architectural archetypes and a sense of ruin, will be shown at Mudam Luxembourg and Kunsthalle Bern in spring 2009, following exhibitions at CGAC Santiago de Compostela and Culturgest Porto. His sculptures, like 'Mur Basrati' (2004), reference Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy, while 'Maisons sommaires' (2008) at Kerguéhennec evoke unfinished concrete structures. Leblon's practice explores thresholds, disappearance, and the indexical relationship to reality, as seen in 'Puits' at Galerie Jocelyn Wolff and 'Chrysocales'—tin and brass cocoons containing exhibition materials. His film 'Villa Cavrois' (2000) captures modern ruin, and 'Temps libre' (2001) photographs depict risk. A brick piece quotes Stig Dagerman: 'Our need for consolation is impossible to satisfy.'
