Guillaume Désanges appointed president of Palais de Tokyo

institutional · 2026-04-27

Guillaume Désanges has been named the new president of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Europe’s largest contemporary art center. He succeeds Emma Lavigne, who left last year to oversee the Pinault Collection at the Bourse de Commerce. Désanges describes the Palais de Tokyo as a “living body” that is always changing. His previous curatorial experience there includes exhibitions featuring Thomas Hirschhorn in 2004 and Neïl Beloufa in 2018. He also set up the curatorial initiative Work Method, led the art program at Hermès's La Verrière gallery in Brussels, and served as a guest curator at the Le Plateau-Frac Ile-de-France Art Center.
