Guido Segni’s Solo Show Explores Time and Technology at Galleria Adiacenze, Bologna

The solo exhibition of Guido Segni at Galleria Adiacenze in Bologna, curated by Marco Mancuso and Alessandra Ioalè, opened during Artefiera weekend and runs until March 16. The show brings together recent works by the new media artist, known for his long-term research under pseudonyms like Dedalus, Clemente Pestelli, and Les Liens Invisible. Many pieces, originally generated by software and algorithms for the web, are now presented in physical space. Notable works include 'A Quiet Desert Failure' (2015), an automated system that posts a satellite image of a Sahara desert area every 30 minutes on a Tumblr blog, aiming to map its entire extent over fifty years (provided Tumblr servers persist). 'Verba volant, scripta manent' (2017) paradoxically fixes the volatility of digital information—symbolized by a tweet—into Carrara marble, the most durable artistic medium. The exhibition concludes in the gallery's basement, entirely dedicated to the latest project 'Demand full Laziness' (2018-2023), inspired by accelerationist theses from Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams' 'Inventing the Future'. This work claims the artist's right to laziness by delegating automatic art production to machines, prompting reflection on productivity, labor, leisure, and artistic creation.
