Guidi & Schoen Moves to New Genoa Space, Opens with Boetti and Dorazio
Guidi & Schoen, a leading contemporary art gallery in Genoa founded in 2002 by Chico Schoen and Guido Guidi, is relocating to a new, larger space at Piazza dei Garibaldi 18, at the intersection of via XX Aprile and via Luccoli. The 170-square-meter venue spans three floors and is now owned by the gallery, marking a significant investment for its future. The inaugural exhibition, curated by Luca Beatrice and opening May 13, 2017, will feature works by historic masters such as Alighiero Boetti, Piero Dorazio, Nunzio, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Massimo Vitali, Olivo Barbieri, and Giacomo Costa, alongside younger artists. The gallery's first show in 2002 was an Andy Warhol exhibition at its original Vico Casana space. After a summer break, solo shows by Barbieri and Costa will reopen the season in September. The move was motivated by the need for a more flexible space to host multiple events simultaneously, reflecting the gallery's growth and expanded programming. The gallery celebrates its 15th anniversary with this new chapter, looking ahead to its 20th.
