Guggenheim Bilbao's Tenth Anniversary Exhibition Examines Local Identity

The exhibition 'Chacun à son goût' (2007-08) marked the tenth anniversary of the Guggenheim Bilbao and was curated by Rosa Martínez. This showcase included works from eleven Basque artists, all born in the 1960s and 1970s. The phrase 'To Each His Own,' which is also a tattoo on Robbie Williams's neck, served as the title. Featured artists comprised Juan Pérez Agirregoikoa, Ibon Aranberri, Asier Mendizabal, Sergio Prego, Itziar Okariz, Txomin Badiola, and Jon Mikel Euba. Agirregoikoa's banner '¿Habéis cedido a vuestro deseo?' greeted attendees. The exhibition examined the contrasts between the museum's global approach and local realities, critiquing the 'Bilbao effect.' Aranberri's 'Horizontes' and Mendizabal's 'Nom de guerre' reflected Basque identity. This event took place at Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Bilbao.
