Gucci Opens Art and Photography Bookstore in SoHo

Gucci has opened the Gucci Wooster Bookstore within its Gucci Wooster space in SoHo, New York, a former pencil factory with 155 years of history occupying an entire block from Wooster Street to West Broadway. The bookstore, curated by Dashwood Books founder David Strettell, offers around 2,000 volumes focusing on avant-garde art and photography, including new publications, used and rare books, and out-of-print titles. Strettell, former cultural director of Magnum Photos, personally selects the inventory. The store also stocks niche magazines on fashion, lifestyle, youth culture, art, architecture, and design, as well as works by figures close to the maison such as Petra Collins, Ari Marcopoulos, Ryan McGinley, Martin Parr, and Florence Welch. The bookstore features restored antique wooden furniture, including bookshelves and a large lectern, and introduces a Head Librarian and Book Worms to assist visitors. It will host book launches with authors and cultural events for the neighborhood. The project was realized under creative director Alessandro Michele.
