Gucci Launches Artist in Residence Program with Rachel Feinstein at Chatsworth

cultural-heritage · 2026-05-04

Gucci has launched a new Artist in Residence program, beginning with American artist Rachel Feinstein at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, England. On June 24, 2019, Feinstein unveiled two works in the estate's park: Britannia, a ceramic sculpture depicting the Roman personification of the British Isles, created in collaboration with Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory in Munich, and Rococo Hut, an aluminum folly resembling a theater set. The works are inspired by the baroque and rococo styles of Chatsworth's architecture and the collections of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. They will remain on view for five years. The residency is an extension of Gucci Places, a network launched in 2017 that designates locations inspiring the brand, accessible via the Gucci app. Chatsworth was the first Gucci Place, previously hosting the exhibition House Style curated by Hamish Bowles of Vogue America and serving as the backdrop for the Gucci Cruise 2017 campaign featuring Vanessa Redgrave. Other Gucci Places include Biblioteca Angelica in Rome, Castello Sonnino in Tuscany, Maison Assouline in London, LACMA, Bibo in Hong Kong, and Waltz Records in Tokyo. Gucci has also committed €1.6 million to restore the Belvedere Garden of the Tarpeian Rock in Rome. The 12th Earl of Devonshire noted that Gucci's financial support is crucial for the estate's sustainability.
