Gucci Cosmos Exhibition Opens in Shanghai Celebrating 102 Years of the Brand

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Gucci Cosmos exhibition opened in Shanghai in April 2023 at the West Bund Art Center, curated by fashion theorist and critic Maria Luisa Frisa. The retrospective celebrates over a century of Gucci's history, featuring iconic pieces from the Gucci Archive in Florence, including designs by Guccio Gucci, Tom Ford, Frida Giannini, and Alessandro Michele. The exhibition is divided into eight immersive worlds, created in collaboration with British artist Es Devlin, known for blending audio, video, and kinetic experiences. It showcases items from the 1950s luggage to the 1960s Bamboo bags and timeless Jackie bags, as well as floral prints and the double-G monogram. The show runs until June 25, 2023, and is the first of a series of global tour stops. François-Henri Pinault, president and CEO of Kering, introduced the new creative director Sabato De Sarno in January 2023, while Gucci president Marco Bizzarri described the exhibition as a journey through the maison's past, present, and future.
