Gucci becomes official partner of Paris Internationale art fair
Gucci has announced a partnership with Paris Internationale, the emerging art fair founded in 2015 by five galleries: Crèvecoeur, High Art, Antoine Levi, Sultana, and Gregor Staiger. As official partner, Gucci will support the fair's opening event, which will be invitation-only. The fair has moved from its previous location in an hôtel particulier on Avenue d'Iéna to a renovated parking garage at 11, rue Béranger in the Haut-Marais district, which for nearly 30 years housed the headquarters of Libération, the newspaper co-founded by Jean-Paul Sartre in 1973. The new venue will host 55 galleries from 17 countries, maintaining the fair's focus on emerging art. The partnership reflects Gucci's increasing investment in contemporary art since its acquisition by Pinault-Printemps-Redoute, now Kering, led by François-Henri Pinault. Previous cultural sponsorships include the restoration of the Boboli Gardens in Florence and support for the exhibition 'House Style: 500 Years of Fashion at Chatsworth'. Separately, the Maxxi Bulgari Prize was announced during Frieze Art Fair in London, succeeding the Premio Maxxi and now open to both Italian and foreign artists who have produced a project in Italy within the last two years. The selection committee includes Edoardo Bonaspetti, Ludovica Carbotta, Luca Lo Pinto, Matteo Lucchetti, and Roberta Tenconi. Paris Internationale runs from 18 to 22 October 2017.
