Grossi Maglioni's 'Pupa' Explores Motherhood at Spazio Supernova, Rome
The exhibition 'Pupa', curated by Dorotheé Dupuis, showcases the Italian artist duo Grossi Maglioni, consisting of Francesca Grossi and Vera Maglioni, both born in 1982. Located at Spazio Supernova in Rome, it will be open until December 18. This solo show features site-specific installations that explore archetypal representations of Italian mothers and women. Ground floor installations include 'Torta di Terra', 'Pupa, Plateau', and 'Vases: Bocca Pupa', utilizing fabrics, ceramics, and organic materials. Accompanying the video 'Pupa' is a sound installation titled 'Promessa d'acqua', created with musician Andreina Noce. The exhibition is part of their research project 'Beast Mother', which critiques depictions of motherhood and women. A public program will feature a workshop, talk, and dialogue-walk.
