Grizzo Studio's Casa Lomadas integrates folded concrete volumes with artificial terrain in Argentina

architecture-design · 2026-04-17

Grizzo Studio has finalized Casa Lomadas, a residence located by a lagoon near Buenos Aires, Argentina. The structure showcases a lengthy, folded concrete bar that stretches across two man-made mounds, forming an artificial topography. These mounds help organize the property, with one leading from the street to the water and the other facilitating vehicle access before morphing into a landscaped ramp. An entryway characterized by a double-height void and a reflecting pool directs movement sideways before it shifts inward. Interior areas like the kitchen and dining spaces are set into the sloped terrain, which flows into a living room and gallery that extends over the lagoon. The upper level features a living area, study, and a planted terrace with lagoon views, linked by a bridge. A staircase made from folded raw steel sheet pierces the concrete structure, landing on a sizable interior planter. Throughout the house, materials such as exposed concrete, raw steel, and stone remain visible. The main bedroom is accessed through expansive glazed panels, with an en-suite bathroom that extends to a cantilevered edge. A perforated metal screen along the rear facade diffuses light, adding depth and creating dynamic light patterns. The residence spans a double plot with over one hundred meters of lagoon frontage, utilizing geometry to frame vistas and blend with the landscape. Federico Kulekdjian provided photography for the project.
