Grime artist Skepta cleared of drug-driving charge
Skepta, known as Joseph Adenuga, has been cleared of drug-driving charges due to a lack of evidence. The 43-year-old artist was pulled over by police in High Wycombe on May 14, 2024, after officers noticed the smell of cannabis and a roadside test indicated THC. At the High Wycombe Magistrates' Court, District Judge Arvind Sharma dismissed the case, citing doubts about the test's reliability. PC Talan O'Neill from Thames Valley Police reported that Adenuga was seen speeding and overtaking at over 30mph. Charges related to speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone on November 20, 2023, and not providing driver details were also dropped due to insufficient evidence. Skepta is well-known for songs like 'That's Not Me' and has achieved two top 10 singles and three top 10 albums in the UK.
