Gridthiya Gaweewong receives 2025 Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence
Gridthiya Gaweewong has been awarded the Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence for 2025 by the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, which includes a $25,000 USD prize. This award, established in 1998, recognizes innovative figures in curatorial practices. Tom Eccles, Executive Director of CCS Bard, notes that Gaweewong advocates for artist-led viewpoints that question traditional institutional narratives. Currently, she serves as the Artistic Director at the Jim Thompson Art Center in Bangkok and is a Guest Curator at MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum. Previously, she held the position of Artistic Director for the 2023 Thailand Biennale. Gaweewong co-founded Project 304 in 1996 after completing her Master of Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Notable past winners include Adriano Pedrosa (2023) and Manuel Borja-Villel (2024).
