Greta Scarpa on Curating as Activating: BITCORP for ART Series

Curator Greta Scarpa, influenced by Giancarlo Politi's assertion that art still happens within galleries, has focused her career on gallery-based work, having collaborated with Martos (New York), Daniel Marzona (Berlin), and currently Francesco Pantaleone in Milan. She is now curating a series of solo shows for BITCORP for ART at Via Enrico Besana 11 in Milan, featuring young Italian and international artists without imposed themes. Scarpa describes herself as an 'attivatore' (activator), emphasizing practical support for artists beyond conceptual guidance, including ensuring fair compensation for production and research. The program launched with Luca Loreti and includes Lucia Kempkes (Berlin), Ottavia Plazza (Turin), Nicole Colombo (Milan), Ruth Beraha (Bologna), and Guendalina Cerruti (London). Scarpa advocates for artists and curators to engage urgently with social and environmental issues such as climate change, plastic pollution, and minority rights, arguing that the historical moment demands participation in dialogue to foster awareness and renew a sense of belonging within a fragile ecosystem.
