Grenoble's Magasin CNAC Opens Three Exhibitions on Diaspora and Contemporary Algeria
On April 7, 2023, Le Magasin – Centre National d’Art Contemporain (CNAC) in Grenoble launched three new exhibitions: 'En attendant Omar Gatlato: Epilogue,' 'Is My Living in Vain' by Ufuoma Essi, and 'Les 35 et les 99 965 autres' by Cindy Bannani. Under the direction of Céline Kopp, these exhibitions are housed in a 2,200-square-meter pavilion originally constructed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1900 Paris Universal Exposition. 'En attendant Omar Gatlato: Epilogue,' curated by Natasha Marie Llorens, showcases the works of fifteen artists exploring themes related to Algeria and Europe following the Hirak movement. Essi's installation focuses on gospel churches, while Bannani's interactive exhibit encourages visitor participation with a banner inspired by a 1983 anti-racist demonstration. The exhibitions will be open until different dates in 2023.
