Gregor Weichbrodt's book lists over 1,000 artists deleted from Wikipedia

German artist Gregor Weichbrodt has compiled a book listing over 1,000 artists, musicians, photographers, actors, dancers, directors, and illustrators whose Wikipedia pages were deleted for not meeting notability criteria. Weichbrodt wrote a Python program to automatically download all Wikipedia articles nominated for deletion over the past ten years, then filtered by artistic occupation. The project was inspired by his own experience: his Wikipedia page was flagged by an anonymous user for failing to meet "notability criteria for authors and artists." The book, published by Frohmann, is presented as an ironic "dictionary" of forgotten artists. A PDF version is available online. The case of English performer Nimrod Kamer, whose page was deleted in 2002 (later restored) due to "low notoriety," is cited as a famous example of Wikipedia's deletion controversies.
