Green Pea, the First Eco-Friendly Store in Italy, Opens in Turin

Green Pea, a five-story, 15,000-square-meter sustainable retail complex, opens in Turin on December 9, 2020, after two years of construction. Founded by Oscar Farinetti, creator of Eataly and Unieuro, the store sells only environmentally friendly products and services across 66 shops, a museum, three restaurants, a rainwater pool, and a spa. The building, designed by architects Cristiana Catino (ACC Naturale Architettura) and Carlo Grometto (Negozio Blu Architetti Associati), features energy-neutral construction, wood facades, and 2,000 trees and plants. Floors are themed Life, Home, Fashion, Beauty, with a Green Pea Discovery Museum on the ground floor and an Otium Pea Club on the fourth floor offering a panoramic pool with Monviso views, a spa, and a cocktail bar. The third floor houses high-end dining: bistrot 100 Vini e Affini with Fontanafredda, surrounded by the largest Italian bookstore on sustainability (laFeltrinelli), and Michelin-starred Casa Vicina. Art and design are integrated throughout, with furniture by Fiam, Tonon, Riva 190, Vibieffe, and Driade, and a menu cover artwork by Ugo Nespolo. Farinetti stated this will be the only Green Pea in Italy, with future locations abroad.
