Green Island's 'Erbario in viaggio' Transforms Milan's Porta Garibaldi Station

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Launched in 2001 by aMAZElab, the Green Island project showcases its 2021 edition, 'Erbario in viaggio', at Porta Garibaldi Station in Milan, in partnership with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. This exhibition features the reinterpretation of the herbarium through the lens of contemporary art and ecodesign by twenty-one international artists, displayed on large screens. Among the contributors are Zafos Xagoraris (Greece), Paul Clemence (USA), Vera Pravda (Balkans), Judith Cowan (UK), Fabiana De Barros (Switzerland), Dorna Lofti (Iran), Simone Berti (Italy), Sergio Leitao (Portugal), and Lois Weinberger (Austria). Drawing inspiration from Gilles Clément's 'Third Landscape' theory, curator Claudia Zanfi describes it as a conversation between communities and their environment. The exhibition is open until September 10 at Stazione Porta Garibaldi, Piazza Sigmund Freud.
