Graziano Arici's 'Now is the Winter of our Discontent' Opens at Fondazione Querini Stampalia, Venice
Graziano Arici's solo exhibition, 'Now is the Winter of our Discontent,' is currently on display at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice, starting from March 2023. Arici, a Venice native born in 1949, contributed his archive to the foundation back in 2017. This retrospective, curated by Daniel Rouvier and Ariane Carmignac, showcases a range of works from 1979 to 2020, including nine series such as 'Angels' (2009), 'Lost Objects' (2018), 'Caarnival,' 'Polaroids,' 'Als das Kind Kind war,' 'The State of Things' (1986-2019), 'Le Grand Tour,' 'Heart of Darkness,' and 'The Winter of our Discontent.' Rouvier emphasizes that Arici's photography goes beyond mere documentation, highlighting societal shadows in monochrome, with the title drawing inspiration from both Shakespeare and Steinbeck.
