Grazia Varisco's 'Ospitare lo spazio' at M77 Gallery

M77 Gallery in Milan presents 'Ospitare lo Spazio', a solo exhibition by Grazia Varisco (born 1937, Milan), curated by Danilo Eccher. The show highlights a new aspect of Varisco's personality: a rock 'n' roll soul in an analyst's coat. Selected works play with geometry by disrupting it, like an impertinent child messing up a maniacally orderly hair. Starting from rigor (a straight line, a square, a circle), a simple gesture like a fold introduces imperfection, making the work more human and welcoming. In the iconic work 'OH!' (1996), a fold introduces three-dimensionality, transforming a simple circle into a threshold inviting entry. Error is not denied but intentionally provoked to remind that chance and unpredictability can be territory for discovery. The playful aspect is the guiding element, as it is an unconventional methodology that travels unexpected itineraries and explores potential space. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog featuring a dialogue between the curator and the artist.
