Grazia Varisco's Jewelry-Sculptures Debut in Milan

Babs Art Gallery in Milan hosts 'A nodo mio', the first exhibition dedicated to the jewelry-sculptures of Grazia Varisco, from December 5, 2024 to February 25, 2025. Varisco, a key figure in Kinetic and Programmed Art born in Milan in 1937, presents a selection of wearable sculptures, including historical prototypes and new productions made for the occasion. The exhibition reveals an unpublished side of her artistic research, showcasing pieces that explore form, space, and movement. Varisco began creating jewelry in the 1980s, inspired by chance and play, using materials like gold, silver, aluminum, and ruthenium. Notable works include 'A nodo mio' (two necklaces and earrings in limited edition), 'Plié demi-plié', and the necklace 'Tre più tre', which reference her earlier sculptures 'Meridiane' (1974), 'Gnomoni' (1975–1982), and 'Extrapagine' (1974–1982). The exhibition also features graphic and sculptural works on the walls, highlighting the continuity in Varisco's practice. A catalog with a critical text by Paola Stroppiana accompanies the show.
