Graphic Rewilding Brings Oversized Floral Murals to Cities Worldwide

British duo Lee Baker and Catherine Borowski, known as Graphic Rewilding, create immersive botanical murals in urban spaces to reconnect people with nature. Their latest project, 'Fleeting Opulence,' transforms the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place in New York City with a giant window display of spring wildflowers. Other notable projects include a collaboration with Lululemon on a floral design spanning Chengdu's twin towers, installations at Rome's Chiostro del Bramante, Shanghai's Start Museum, and New York Botanical Garden. The duo met on a flight to New York and combined Baker's studio painting practice with Borowski's curation experience. Their work is site-specific, using 3D software to adapt designs to architecture. They previously ran SKIP Gallery, a dumpster-based art project. Baker cites influences from Takashi Murakami, Ito Jakuchu, and Japanese woodblock artists. The pair coined the term 'Microscopic Maximalism' for their approach of magnifying small floral details.
