Graphic novel teaches kids to spot fake news

publication · 2026-04-27

Journalist Andrea Coccia and cartoonist duo Maicol & Mirco (Michael Rocchetti) have released "Chi ha rubato la marmellata?" (Corraini Edizioni, 2022), a hybrid manual-comic that teaches children how to verify information and navigate misinformation. The book originated from a collaboration between Slow News and FarFarFare, Ilaria Rodella's project, and includes contributions from Irene Caselli (childhood journalism specialist) and semiologist Jacopo Cirillo. Through exercises, examples, and a detective story starring characters Andrea and Lia, the volume addresses concepts like infodemia, source-checking, and critical thinking. Coccia emphasizes the need to equip kids with tools to avoid the polarization and deception that adults face. The 176-page book costs €15.
