Graphic novel 'Oriana' chronicles the life of journalist Oriana Fallaci
A new graphic novel titled 'Oriana. Una donna libera' (Rizzoli Lizard, 2022) tells the life story of Oriana Fallaci (Florence, 1929–2006), the controversial Italian journalist and writer. Created by Giuseppe Galeani (script) and Paola Cannatella (art), the project was initiated by Fallaci's nephew and heir Edoardo Perazzi, who approached the duo after reading their graphic novel on Maria Grazia Cutuli. The book covers Fallaci's childhood in Florence, her involvement in the Resistance as a partisan courier, her early journalism at Epoca and L'Europeo, her move to the US, her friendship with Neil Armstrong and Apollo 12 astronauts, and her return to journalism after witnessing the 9/11 attacks. Galeani notes that the narrative is structured as Fallaci telling her own story, allowing readers to engage with her working method and writing quality. The 324-page volume costs €29.
