Graphic Novel 'Mon Bataclan' Recounts Paris Terror Attack
A graphic novel titled 'Mon Bataclan' has been published by Lemieux Éditour, created by Parisian graphic designer Fred Dewilde (a pseudonym), a survivor of the November 13, 2015 terrorist attack at the Bataclan theater in Paris. The attack, carried out by ISIS during an Eagles of Death Metal concert, resulted in 93 deaths, many of them young. Dewilde, 50, a father of three and a medical book illustrator, spent six months completing the 48-page black-and-white project, finished in May 2016. The book depicts his experience during the attack, with terrorists portrayed as faceless skeletons holding rifles. It also explores the aftermath, including his struggle to reintegrate into society and family life. The work is described as a cathartic release and a contemporary journey into the self, dedicated to those who did not survive.
