Graphic Novel Chronicles Zaha Hadid's Life and Architecture
A new graphic novel titled "Zaha – La regina delle curve" (Zaha – Queen of Curves) has been released, chronicling the life and work of the late architect Zaha Hadid. Written by Marcello Restaldi and Elisabetta Priano, with illustrations by Nashmin Valadi, the 28-page volume covers key events from Hadid's childhood in Iran and Baghdad (born 1950) to her move to London in 1972, her pioneering architectural projects such as the Pierres Vives center in Montpellier, the MAXXI museum in Rome (completed 2010), and the Leeza SOHO skyscraper in Beijing (2019). Hadid, who died on March 31, 2016, was the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize in 2004. The comic is part of the "Voci di donne da infiniti universi" collection by Global Thinking Foundation in collaboration with Anonima Fumetti. It will be previewed at the ninth edition of Xmas Comics in Turin on December 16–17 at the OVAL venue in Lingotto Fiere. Claudia Segre, founder and president of Global Thinking Foundation, stated that the series aims to highlight courageous women with international fame who overcame stereotypes and gender discrimination, demonstrating that women can excel as scientists, artists, and architects.
