Zaki, who is pursuing a master's degree in Gender Studies at the University of Bologna and works with the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, faced five charges, including promoting terrorism. After spending 22 months in custody, he was released on December 7, 2021, following a hearing, though he was not fully acquitted. On February 2, 2022, Zaki shared his optimism for a favorable decision by April 6. The 128-page book, co-created by journalist Laura Cappon and artist Gianluca Costantini, is priced at €17 and highlights human rights issues.
