Graphic Novel Chronicles Buster Keaton's Life and Career

A new graphic novel titled 'La straordinaria vita di Buster Keaton' (The Extraordinary Life of Buster Keaton), written by Andrea Fontana and Ilaria Palleschi and published by Tunué, will be released on February 13, 2025. The book traces the actor's life from his childhood in a family theater troupe to his rise in silent cinema, including his debut in the 1917 film 'Fatty macellaio' and 14 short films between 1918 and 1919. It covers his peak years (1920-1923) when he made 23 feature films, his decline after being fired by MGM in 1932 due to sound film, divorce from Natalie Talmadge, alcoholism, and psychiatric hospitalization. The narrative also details his later recovery, marriage to dancer Eleanor Norris, and return to acting in commercials and TV. The preface is written by director Maurizio Nichetti. The 150+ page volume focuses on Keaton's private struggles and resilience.
