Graphic designer reinvents visual identity for Cisternino's Festival dei Sapori

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Giuliano M. Guarini, a young graphic designer, has redesigned the visual identity for the Festival dei Sapori in Cisternino, a town of about 10,000 inhabitants in the Valle d'Itria, Apulia. The festival consolidates seven summer sagre (food festivals) organized by five contrade from July to September. Guarini, who studied Communication Design and Product Service System Design at Politecnico di Milano and worked in China, aimed to unify the communication under a single brand and attract younger audiences. The new design reinterprets the traditional Apulian decorative element of the rampant rooster, often found on ceramics, stylizing it alongside local dishes like orecchiette and gnummareddi. The campaign also blends local dialect with meme language, using the slogan "Arrotola. Cuoci. Mangia. Repeat."
