award · 2026-05-05

The Graham Foundation in Chicago has announced over $400,000 in grants to 41 innovative projects, including 14 exhibitions, 16 publications, and 8 public programs. The funding supports international institutions, predominantly U.S.-based, with a focus on expanding architecture's role in society. Notable exhibitions include 'The Architecture of Socialist Yugoslavia, 1945–1991,' opening June 2018 in the U.S., and 'Bengal Stream: The Vibrant Architecture Scene of Bangladesh' at S AM Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel starting December 1. Publications include a series on the Museo Experimental el Eco's ephemeral architecture program in Mexico City, initiated by Frida Escobedo. The foundation, a partner of the first Chicago Architecture Biennial in 2015 co-directed by Joseph Grima and Sarah Herda, has supported architecture for 61 years.
