Grace Malouf: From Law to Award-Winning Playwright via NIDA MFA

Grace Malouf, an alumna of NIDA's Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Performance (now known as Dramatic Writing), has achieved recognition as an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. Her short film 'Writers in Love', which received Oscar accreditation and was directed by Sarah Giles, clinched the Best Short Film title at the St Kilda Film Festival and garnered an AACTA nomination. Malouf's accolades include the Griffin Award, Queensland Premier's Drama Award, ATYP's Blake Beckett Commission, and the Katie Lees Fellowship for Playwriting. Her play 'First Do No Harm' debuted at Sydney's KXT on Broadway during NIDA's New Writers, New Works season. Having previously studied law and economics, she attributes her writing skills to the 18-month practice-led MFA program, overseen by Joe Hepworth. NIDA is accepting applications from First Nations and underrepresented communities, with an online postgraduate information session set for Tuesday, 25 August at 6:00pm.
