Goxwa's First Solo Show at Gallerie Felli, Paris

Maltese painter Goxwa (pronounced "Joshua"), based in Paris for a decade, returns for her first solo exhibition at the new Gallerie Felli in the Marais district, running from October 20 to November 19, 2005. After successful shows in New York and San Francisco, she presents works like "L'Heure dorée" (162 x 130 cm), featuring a mysterious girl on a rich red background. Goxwa's technique involves mixing oil with a soft wax imported from the US, applying paint with a palette knife in multiple layers to create varied textures. Works range from the smooth "Rivière argentée" to the textured "À l'affût" and "Calypso" with emerald transparencies. Her themes include the paradox of frescoes on canvas and integrating historical violence into sensual forms.
