Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show Returns for Third Edition

The third edition of the Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show, organized by Governors Island Arts in collaboration with Times Square Arts, invites artists and sculptors specializing in ice to create monumental works. Ten artists will be selected and paired with professional ice carvers from Okamoto Studio. The event takes place on February 3, 2024, at Governors Island, where each artist will create their sculpture. The winner, determined by public vote, will exhibit their work at Times Square on February 14, 2024, during Love in Times Square, a celebration featuring surprise marriage proposals. All other sculptures remain on view at Governors Island from February 3 until they melt. The theme for this edition is love. Clare Newman, President of Governors Island Arts, stated that the show supports local artists and offers a unique public art experience for New Yorkers during winter.
