Governors Island Hosts 28th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition with 15 Works by 16 Artists
The 28th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, named Nature Rules!, commenced on June 5 and will continue until October 10 on Governors Island. This year, the event is hosted on the island for the first time due to construction at its traditional venue, organized by the Brooklyn Artists Waterfront Coalition (BWAC). Visitors can explore fifteen sculptures created by sixteen artists from across the United States along pathways free of vehicles. The curatorial team, including Ursula Clark, Richard Brachman, Ty, and Governors Island management, selected the pieces from a pool of fifty submissions. Among the featured works is Post Consumer Suffocation: Greenhouse by artists Nathanial Hein and Jennifer Gonzales, known collectively as Go-Hein. The exhibition is part of a larger summer initiative on the island, reachable via complimentary ferries from Manhattan or Brooklyn on weekends.
