Göteborg Biennial 2025 Announces Theme and Artists
Scheduled from September 20 to November 30, 2025, the 13th Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art, named 'a hand that is all our hands combined,' will be curated by Christina Lehnert. This biennial focuses on how collaborative and artistic endeavors can foster solidarity and protect freedom of expression for artists and marginalized groups. The title is inspired by Solmaz Sharif's poem 'Personal Effects.' Featured artists include Noor Abed, Basma al-Sharif, and many others, with special invitations extended to Kiluanji Kia Henda, Tiago Mena Abrantes, and Pamela Z by Jonelle Twum/Black Archives Sweden. Collaborating institutions include Gothenburg City Library and Göteborgs Konsthall. The event aims to create a platform for varied artistic viewpoints, addressing issues like authoritarianism and social unrest.
