Goran Trbuljak's Retrospective at Centre d'Art Contemporain Geneva Surveys Decades of Conceptual Art
The retrospective of Goran Trbuljak at the Centre d'Art Contemporain Geneva will run from 30 May to 19 August 2018, highlighting his conceptual artistry developed over 40 years. In 1972, he initiated a public survey in Zagreb, where 259 out of 500 individuals affirmed his status as an artist. His initial creations featured a photograph of a metal pipe, the obscuring of traffic signs, and the act of tossing a picture frame into the sea. In 1971, he showcased a self-portrait with accompanying text at Zagreb's Student Centre Gallery. In 1977, he presented enlargements of previous exhibitions in Venice. His 2006 silkscreen prints aimed for 'a permanent display place in some nice new art museum space.' Curator Andrea Bellini emphasizes that Trbuljak's work embodies conceptual traditions while maintaining a critical perspective on the art scene.
