Google to Build First Austrian Data Center in Kronstorf

Google has unveiled its inaugural data center in Austria, situated in Kronstorf, Upper Austria. This facility is expected to generate 100 direct job opportunities and aims to address the increasing demand for digital services and artificial intelligence capabilities. The tech giant is also committing to sustainability initiatives, which include a fund aimed at enhancing water quality in the Enns river in collaboration with the Upper Austrian Fisheries Association, the installation of a green roof featuring solar panels, and off-site heat recovery to aid the regional energy transition. Additionally, a partnership with the University of Applied Science Upper Austria will facilitate AI training, expanding on Google's previous efforts to educate over 140,000 Austrians. This data center forms part of Google's larger strategy to bolster European digital infrastructure and competitiveness through AI and digital technologies.
