Google Photos Adds Virtual Wardrobe Feature for Outfit Planning

digital · 2026-04-29

Google Photos is launching a wardrobe feature that will allow users to virtually try on different outfits based on clothing items identified in their photo libraries. The feature, announced just over a week after Google added AI-powered beautification tools, will automatically catalog tops, bottoms, jewelry, shoes, and more from users' photos, creating a digital closet. Users can browse, mix and match items, share with friends, create mood boards, and virtually try on clothes to see how an outfit looks before physically assembling it. The feature appears to pull product photos from Google Images after identifying clothing items in personal images. Google says the wardrobe tool will eliminate "nothing to wear" mornings, evenings, vacations, and special occasions. It will launch first on Android "this summer" and later on iOS. The announcement comes alongside other Google Photos AI features like skin smoothing and AI image generation via Nano Banana.
