Google Expands Gemini AI Assistant in Chrome to Seven Asian-Pacific Markets

digital · 2026-04-21

Google has expanded its Gemini AI assistant in Chrome to seven additional countries: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam, starting Monday. This update allows access for desktop and iOS users in all these countries, except Japan. Gemini was first introduced to U.S. users back in January, followed by launches in India, Canada, and New Zealand in March. The assistant offers a sidebar to help users manage questions across various tabs and connects to Google services like Gmail, Photos, Calendar, and Maps. Users can set up meetings, check locations, write emails, and edit web images using Nano Banana 2. There's also a new feature in testing for U.S. AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers that manages browser windows for tasks.
